The act of gaining access, illegally, to a secure computer network with malicious intent

Hard drive / Hard disk

The component in the computer that stores your data and files, such as operating system and applications

Hardware

The physical components that connect up to form the computer

History

A chronological list of websites you have visited that is stored within your internet browser

Hits

The number of times a web page has been visited. The number of hits a page has received can be displayed via a counter

Homepage

The first page that loads when you start your web browser

Host

In general terms, a computer at a location on a network. In internet terms a host can be defined as a company that provides space to store your website and displays it on the World Wide Web

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)

The common programming language for web pages

HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)

A request/response protocol used to transfer information, commonly web pages, over the World Wide Web

Hyperlink

Often referred to as a link, it is a navigation point to another document or page within a document

Hypertext

Text that is dynamic and can lead users onto other information through the use of links (see above)
